Forums: Suggestions

When I first started up on Aethora, I used the Weaken action a lot. I still use it sometimes, but not as much. Anyways, when you use the Weaken action, and click on the enemy it was used on, it says something like “Their body has been weakened, hindering their melee ability”…which threw me off a bit. I thought “hindering their melee ability” meant they don’t do as much damage with melee damage, or something regarding to their damage they can deal. But the case is they can be hit for more damage with melee attacks…So shouldn’t it say something like, “Their body has been weakened, hindering their defensive ability”? Something that is easier to make the connection that they will get hit harder.

-Just a suggestion to make others non-confused =D Or maybe I’m just the dumb one who got confused heh.

That wouldn’t be better, as “defensive ability weakened” would imply that they are more vulnerable to metatherics as well – which they are not – and it wouldn’t include that, in fact, their melee offensive ability is reduced as well. One has to keep in mind here, that the target of an attack always uses his passive skill to prevent damage from happening.

There are two parts to melee, as well as to defense:
Melee
- Offensive Power > Melee (active) > Weaken has effect.
- Defensive Power > Melee (passive) > Weaken has effect.

Defense
- against Melee > Melee (passive) > Weaken has effect.
- against Metatherics > Metatherics (passive) > Weaken has NO effect.

Thus, it does alter the strength of both melee abilities, but only one of the two core defensive abilities, that’s why it is said to decrease melee ability. Because that’s what it does. Same for feedback with Metatherics.
And it’s the same way with strengthen and mental acuity as well, just the other way around. Both increase active and passive skills as well and thus make your character resistant to enemy attacks of the associated skills, as well as making his own stronger in turn.

smirk I knew. About 6 days ago, about the same time of day as I am posting this today, I had a talk with Sheck about it. The sale of a basic frost cylinder for 5000 gold had me startled, as had the sale of an Excellent Danmam Cylinder for minimum price in opposite directions. Of course, the almost matching login names did the rest…
At first, I didn’t know… I am quite liberal, especially since anti-multi-account regulations have been a pain for me and my GF (I mean, we’re a couple, we like to play games together. We’re a couple, damnit, we want to help each other and cooperate, and I don’t want to a) not visit my GF again or b) have the game go to the dogs because I can’t log in from her home… because “if you log in from same IP, you should not do trade with each other or have one help the other” … WHAT? People who log in from the same IP are rather likely to know each other, and they are forbidden to play together? To whom do we owe that epic logic failure?) but I know that keeping some sort of balance between players is important as well.

So… having multiple accounts: Not a problem to me. Pushing the smaller account with superfluous wealth of the bigger one: Not a problem. Giving invaluable items from the smaller account to the bigger……. well, that’s pushing. I don’t really like it, even though it’s not tragic either… but Sheck seems to be okay with it so far, and he’s the boss. Plus… you paid 5000 gold and invested some time into it… so you may as well get to use that Excellent Danmam Coil with your primary party.

And yeah, I know that there are two Cap’n Zooches. There is an account with a login name with just one 1, but that doesn’t have any characters on it and no display name. Two is Cap’n Zooch, Three Cap’n Zooch Stronghold, Four is Providence. Interestingly, though, you seem to have created all three accounts at the same time (at least the same month).

Heh yeah I figured you knew. I don’t want to cause any problems, as I love this game. I mean, obviously I do because I’m trying to make my primary party the best they can be. However, if you or Sheck don’t want me doing this, I can stop. I guess it’s not that big of a deal because there is no PvP yet, but it still can be recognized as something to stop because event monsters that are hard could be easily beaten with my party, having the danmam coils I need. I understand if you want me to destroy the ones I created with my separate accounts. Just let me know =D

Oh, it’s not a big deal. Currently, we have little enough players as is, and it’s something of a compliment that a player is ready and willing to invest that much time and effort, we guess it should be rewarded. If we change our minds, we will announce it early enough, and likely, the new rules would not apply to “past offenses”. ;)

So: Enjoy your second and possibly third Danmam Coil. ;)
