You just need to fight a couple of times so it’ll mark you as active, then wait for it to update.

Been a few days, i have characters will skills in the high 70’s, and they aren’t showing up.
How odd. Just got to give it time, then?

I have seen your characters on the leaderboard… let’s see…
for example, Earl Ragnar taking second place in blades…
Osangar, Nae’Blis and Tchort in Physical on 9, 10 and 11…
Osangar, Plant, second place…
Tchort on place 5 in Flesh…
… and that was just now.
Of course, I’ve just picked the three highest-level characters of your crew and quickly tried to spot them on the full leaderboard … but the results aren’t that bad. Maybe you’ll have to refresh the full leaderboard? You may even spot more of your guys (you’re more familiar with their names… I always spot all of mine rather quickly)
EDIT: Belial changed the name that Sheck had objected, and I have changed it within here now, accordingly.

Yeah, the refresh on those stat pages is a little screwy. There will be a fix in the next update so they will update more persistently.
Incidentally, in order to qualify for the top list, your character has to be “updated” within the last 30 days (you don’t even have to go into battle to set the ‘updated’ timestamp – as long as you log in and move some PCs around in the party or change their equipment, they are considered ‘updated’).
On a final note, we don’t have a naming policy (yet) here in Aethora, but if we did, there are probably only two words I would ban, and you (Belial) are using one of them. You’ve got 7 great fantasy-style RPG names and one humorous but mildly offensive one. I don’t believe in censorship, so I don’t want to force you to change it. However, you clearly seem to enjoy the game, so I’m asking you to change it to something else as a favor to me.

Well the term has multiple uses … but I know what you mean, Sheck. I was wondering if I should really quote the name…

I was stuck for a name for an environmentalist and i didn’t think i’d ever use him, so i just gave him that. I’ll change it, it’s no that bad though. It’s not like i called him Cunt or anything.
Incidentally, characters have started showing up, which is excellent. Hard to believe that my characters are still near to the top ever after months of absence though.

Actually, for me, they already showed up when you had done your first post, or shortly thereafter (maybe 12 hours or something) but I didn’t answer, then, because I thought the problem had already been resolved.
About still being so high: Yeah. Problem is, once you’ve done Plateney and Tiasa a couple times, you’re about as top-level as one can get. We don’t have new areas with higher-level monsters yet, so you can’t improve your levels much higher than that… yet.

I don’t actually know how the xp system in this game works – Can i only level on monsters of higher skill? Or can i get minute amounts of experience killing lower level things that adds up? If i can’t, then lol, no grinding.
Since i’m dumping questions ITT anyway, is 75 the max damage?

75 is max damage, yes. It is also the maximum outcome for skills that don’t do damage (movement reduction etc.)
You can only level up on monsters about your skill. When you do something, there is a chance for a skill increase. The greater the difference (in favor of the enemy) of the enemies skill level is towards your skill, the more likely the increase. So, if you use, for example, Deceitful Blade (Short Blades, Mindwind) and you have 70 in short blades and 30 in mindwind (because, for example, you just changed your character into mindwind) and you attack a level 70 creature with it, your mindwind will likely go up a level for every strike (enemy skill far greater than yours), and there is a chance (albeit a much smaller one) that your short blades skill will improve as well. The closer the levels, the smaller the chance, and I think if the enemy skill level is about five levels lower (or was it ten, not sure about the exact number) the chance is pretty much 0.
So: If fighting against same-level opponents, you might have to fight longer, using more actions, to increase levels, while if fighting against higher-levels will have your skills skyrocketing up. Too much lower-level enemies, however, don’t get you any skill improvement at all, or at close-to-0 chances.
(I don’t know the exact mechanics, either, but I think this is about how it works.)

That’s pretty much correct.
And yes, 75 is the max damage.

Well for me there stays one questions! (And I haven’t spotted an answer in the forum)
How does the upgrade process work with friendly actions?

Works the same as unfriendly actions – except instead of comparing your active skill level against the target’s passive level, you compare your active skill level against the average of the enemies’ passive skill levels.
Er… hope that made sense :)

yeah makes sense and seems fair. As a sideremark, I guess there is now way to see the level of your enemy expect by the occurence of upgrades…
